About Terry

Dr. Terry Jackson partners with non-profits, universities, and businesses that understand their success happens through their people. With a pragmatic and creative perspective, Terry brings decades of interdisciplinary expertise in learning, leadership, and organizational development. Her personal mission to help people and organizations grow through ongoing learning and coaching led to the founding of Terry Jackson Consulting.
An educator at heart, Terry earned her Ed.D. degree in Human and Organizational Learning from George Washington University’s executive leadership program. Her doctoral dissertation conducted research into presidential leadership transitions and top leadership team development in higher education. She earned two master’s degrees at Penn State in Management and in Training Design and Development and conducted research and interviews for Diversity Leadership by Janice L. Dreachslin. Terry has been a certified employee assistance professional (CEAP) for over 30 years and, in 2021, she completed the leadership coaching certificate program through the Leadership Learning Collaborative.
Throughout her 20-year career in higher education, Dr. Jackson was successful in a wide range of tactical, strategic, administrative, and teaching roles. She understands what it takes to be effective in systems of shared governance. As the Chief of Staff at Delaware Valley University, Terry served as an advisor and member of the President’s Cabinet. She focused the president’s agenda and partnered with internal and external constituents on the strategic plan implementation. When COVID-19 forced the campus closure in March 2020, Terry led the effort to provide temporary respite housing on campus for local healthcare workers. She also directed all aspects of the university’s successful and comprehensive initiative to reopen campus and residence halls by Fall 2020.
For over a decade prior, Terry’s behavioral health career spanned a wide range of organizational development functions, including coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, team and manager training and development, and crisis management. As vice-president for North, Clawson & Bolt, Ltd., a national managed behavioral health firm, she oversaw new business development, account management, and operations for the firm’s Fortune 500 clients. Kimberly-Clark Corporation recognized her work with their management team, employees, and union leadership with an exceptional service award.
After 9/11, Terry provided crisis management, coaching and counseling to her NY-based clients that suffered loss of life and property. No matter the scope or gravity of the situation, Terry is trusted to support people and organizations succeed and thrive.
Throughout her multi-faceted career, Terry has helped numerous people focus their goals, uncover their talents, and build confidence and satisfaction in their careers. In her consulting work, Terry uses her experience, coupled with her intuition and humor, to identify and address real issues – not just symptoms. She knows how to ask the right questions – and then listen, analyze, apply research, common sense, and practical wisdom to her clients’ concerns. Terry uses a warm, enthusiastic approach to discover and develop talent, strengthen creativity and leadership capacity, and manage rapid, ongoing change. No matter the industry, her expertise in top management and leadership transitions has made her a trusted thought partner, advisor, and coach at the highest levels in business, non-profit, and educational institutions.
Terry is an advocate for social justice, inclusion and equity issues, volunteering as a member of the Anti-Racism Advisory Committee at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Education and Human Development. She also served on the Presidential Search and the Women’s Leadership Conference Committees at La Salle University. Terry lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband, Larry, and spends her down time as an enthusiastic fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, her friends, Pilates, the #insulin4all movement, music, art, and theatre.
